In the past 7 years, homelessness in New Mexico has increased by 87%, driven by rising housing costs. A massive undersupply of homes is at the root of the affordability crisis. Relaxing regulations on building height and zoning may be a solution for creating an inventory of reasonably priced housing options for residents.
