Jeff Harnar Award
Honoring excellence in architecture and landscape architecture across the American Southwest.
Design that shapes the region.
Since 2007, the Thornburg Foundation has sponsored the Jeff Harnar Awards, honoring excellence in architecture and landscape architecture across the American Southwest. Named for architect Jeff Harnar and his groundbreaking contributions to contemporary design in the region, the program recognizes both built and unbuilt work across six categories, from professional practice to student achievement. The awards are administered by the University of New Mexico School of Architecture + Planning.
Professional categories are open to work in the Four Corners states, with student categories extending into other arid regions of the Southwest. Winners are selected by independent juries, with prizes ranging from $1,500 to $10,000. Full eligibility details, categories and submission deadlines are available on the award’s website.
