Allan Oliver has been named executive director of the $88 million Thornburg Foundation, the foundation said Wednesday.

Oliver, who most recently served as CEO of the New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce, will start the job March 25, Thornburg said in a news release. He will lead the foundation’s efforts to improve food security, educational opportunities and election finance policies.

“We are excited that Allan Oliver will lead our foundation as we broaden our strategy and work to move the dial on these critical New Mexico issues,” said Foundation Board Chair Garrett Thornburg.

Prior to working at the New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce, Oliver served as the cabinet secretary and deputy cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Economic Development Department.

Suzanne Barker Kalangis, who has led the foundation in a part-time capacity for six years, will continue with the foundation as director of special projects, the release said.
